AHS convened the Total Cost of Care Subgroup in September and October 2022 to identify key considerations related to total cost of care definitions and target-setting. Vermont shared input from the Subgroup with the CMS to inform the design of the federal “States Advancing All-Payer Health Equity Approaches and Development” (AHEAD) Model. Controlling growth in total cost of care for health care services is a critical requirement of states in the AHEAD Model.
