The Strategic Plan focuses on strategies to improve the availability of nurses, primary care physicians, dental care providers, and mental health and substance use disorder treatment professionals and recommends future work to delve more deeply into the barriers for non-licensed allied health, direct support professionals (e.g. personal care attendants and home care aides), peers, and community health workers to join the workforce. The latter group of professionals requires improved availability to meet the service needs of older and disabled Vermonters.
