Healthcare Workforce Data Center

The Agency of Human Services is in the process of planning and implementing a Health Care Workforce Data Center, in consultation with Freedman HealthCare. The planning work is divided into 3 phases:

  • Phase One- The Best Practice Report: Involves learning about other states’ efforts and compiling a comprehensive report that includes a scan of similar health care workforce data initiatives nationwide. The focus was to understand best practices for the integration of health care workforce data from a variety of information sources. The Best Practice Report includes summaries of challenges, lessons learned, advice from other states undertaking a similar effort, types of analytics they've been able to produce, and next steps.
  • Phase Two- The Stakeholder Report: Focuses on Vermont stakeholder engagement. A broad range of interested parties are sharing their vision for the Data Center, including their business needs for workforce data, how they might use the data, concerns, and ideas on how to structure the data and govern its use.
    • From this effort, Freedman HealthCare and the Agency of Human Services have convened a national consortium of health care workforce data leaders that will further guide the Agency’s work.
  • Phase Three- The Reporting & Analytic Plan: Outlines the proposed approach for collecting, analyzing, and presenting information in support of Vermont’s Healthcare Workforce Data Center (HWDC). The framework focuses on immediate and short-term analytic product development; those reports/dashboards that can be developed during the first year of implementation. The plan aligns available data sources with stakeholder needs identified during meetings and documented in the Stakeholder Report.
